Kaedim, an AI company whose founder was recently included in a Forbes 30 Under 30 list, promises to use its own machine learning algorithms to convert 2D illustrations into 3D renderings, but has actually used human workers for much of that process, 404 Media reported on Wednesday. Kaedim said it uses humans for “quality control,” but one of 404 Media’s sources pushed back against that framing, and said workers at one point produced the 3D design wholecloth themselves without the help of machine learning at all.
