The field of image processing owes its existence to Playboy centerfold Lena Forsén, whose 1972 photo has been used by engineers in research and image processing for more than 50 years. Now, IEEE, one of the largest institutions for computing research and a major journal publisher, has deemed that it can no longer be used in research papers.
