There’s a member of the P-Hive working at NATO. How else does Tony P end up as the face of the organization’s new promotional video?
Anthony Polcari, better known as Tony P, or “Big Tone” as many of his P-Hive followers call him, has a massive audience on TikTok and Instagram. He documents his life as a “25-year-old bachelor in Washington, D.C.” His videos are earnest, and show an extremely average, relatable life where a guy tries on ties for his consulting job, goes to lunch at the Federalist Pig, and revels in the simple things in life, like having TSA pre-check.
And now, he’s a NATO influencer. In a video released on Tuesday, Tony P appears in front of multiple D.C. landmarks, like the Washington Monument and the White House, to talk about NATO’s 75th anniversary. The NATO Summit is being held this week in D.C., in the middle of a tumultuous time for the organization: Donald Trump has threatened to pull the U.S. out of NATO if elected president, and Ukraine’s path to membership is a long-time topic of discussion and debate, especially as Russia continues to bomb civilian
Can the capital’s most famous bachelor bring a contentious summit together? Someone in NATO’s marketing team seems to think so.
On a personal note: I have been trying to figure out whether Tony is a satirical account, a guy doing an extremely accurate and realistic bit—rather than this man’s actual honest-to-god personality—for a year now.
If it’s a character, he’s been committed from day one. In his first video he goes to Barcode for happy hour (and gets hype about the Patrón branded cooler bag he wins from the bar because it’ll be useful on the golf course) then goes to Succotash for dinner, where he claims he has his first “Southern style” food. But he says this while wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers polo shirt, and he’s a University of Richmond alumni; I refuse to believe this is this man’s first time eating chicken and waffles and hush puppies.
Then again, doing a promotional video for NATO is exactly the kind of thing the real Tony P would do.
